Ana Hotels Sport Poiana Brașov (Transylvania, Romania) hosted me for two days, during an important program about education requirements. As you already know, when an accommodation impresses me, I must tell you about it.
(see my ratings for each category at the end of the article)
Poiana Brașov is a mountain resort, known and appreciated by both Romanians and foreigners as the perfect ski destination. With wonderful forests, strong and fresh mountain air and the peace of the location, is the perfect choice for vacations, conferences, team buildings or big events such as weddings. No matter why you get here – even if it’s for work reasons – you’ll also relax due to the air and the hotels’ facilities.
Located at the heart of the Carpathians, the Bavarian-style hotel is placed at the base of the Bradul Ski Slope, which makes it very popular during winter. Bradul is an easy difficulty sky slope, 430 m in length and a width of 70 m – perfect for beginners.
Summer quietness. Summer walks.
I dare to say that it is the perfect location in summer, too, because it is so close to some important places. Among them are the medieval city of Brașov, the Dracula’s Castle in Bran, the unique Royal Palace of Peleș and the Rucăr-Bran Corrridor. The hiking and trekking lovers will also be happy in this place because Mountain Peaks like Postăvaru, Piatra Mare, Bucegi and Piatra Craiului have so many marked trails that lead to countless natural objectives, chalets and hermitages.
I don’t want to forget about the adrenaline amateurs like me. Within 20 minutes by car are the incredible Râșnoavei Gorges. Here, any adult can make a reservation for bungee jumping (one of the highest bungee jumping facilities in Europe), for the zip line or for the pendulum jump. If you love climbing the rocks, there is a Via Ferrata (an alpine route equipped with cables, ladders and bridges that make the ascent easier and accessible to those who don’t have an advanced level of training or much experience.
A luxurious stay
Part of a well-known brand of chain hotels (which also includes Athénée Palace Hilton and Crowne Plaza from Bucharest), Hotel Sport offers an unforgettable stay. I was lucky to stay in one of the hotel’s apartments. I felt so comfortable in the bedroom – not too small to create some inconveniences and not too big to give you the feeling that you don’t have privacy. The pillows were soft and the mattress was perfect for a restful sleep.
But what really impressed me was the bathroom. It was so big, I didn’t know in the first few seconds where to look first: two sinks placed on an elegant countertop, a mirror all over the wall, an incredible bathtub in front of the window from where I could see the mountains, a generous shower space in the right corner. It seemed to me like a VIP bathroom. What I considered a little bit strange – just because I am not used to this modern partitioning – is that the WC was placed separately, in other room. That room was 2mp and it didn’t have a sink.
Office or second bedroom
I loved the spacious living room, where I could just stay and relax on the couch, or just work on my laptop for hours. The windows were big enough to provide natural light all day long.
And if you travel with a big family, the living room can easily be transformed into a bedroom. With two expandable coaches, could be the perfect beds for the kids.
Leisure time: spa, ski, biking or fitness?
Now, the part I like the most: what can you do here? The answer is: Almost anything!
The hotel does not only provide elegant and spacious conference rooms. Hotel Sport offers a well-equipped fitness room, a generous indoor pool, two saunas (one dry and one wet) and a Jacuzzi with hot water, which is placed outside. I find this place fascinating especially when it rains!
At the hotel, you’ll find renting points for sky equipment and for bikes and ATVs, too. Or maybe you want to ride a horse…
The hotel staff is creating the best programs for kids, every day. Also, special activities take place every morning and evening – you can try painting, crafting, mountain biking, visit the ponies, little game-lessons about mountain flora and fauna etc.
I must admit I ate very well: everything was carefully cooked and nicely presented. I appreciated the savor of the food. If you want to try something special… well… here I had the best pepper cream soup I ever tasted in my life!
Enjoy the photos!
