Lisbon is one of the most friendly cities in Europe. It is colorful, joyful and perfect for a calm city break. The capital of Portugal is suitable for any season. In the summer, the sea breeze cools you. In the winter, the African air warms you – here, it snows once at 50 years!
Visit St Jorge Castle
The view from the St Jorge Castle is impressive. So go there before sunset and stay until night, because you’ll get the chance to see Lisbon surrounded by some big city lights, which I assure you is wonderful.
Take the tram!
Lisbon is famous, among other things, for its tiny little tram. But avoid the touristic one, please. Take a tour with tram 28 – you’ll pay a decent price and you’ll find a seat!
Eat bacalhau
Bacalhau is the traditional fish (cod), which is cooked in dozens of ways. I liked the one with pistachio crust the most!
Up, up!
Go to Santa Justa elevator and go up on the platform. There, you’ll be able to enjoy a 360* panorama view!
Make special friends
Rossio Square is the place where all the doves in the city gather. They have their attractions as well, as they gather there for food. They are extremely friendly to tourists. So you can pet them while you feed them.
Enjoy fado
Find a specific restaurant and make a reservation for an evening. You’ll love it!
Admire unique buildings
Visit Jerónimos Monastery and you’ll be impressed!
Have a memorable walk
Take a walk under the triumphal arch of Rua Agusta, from Praça do Comércio. It is a historical masterpiece, a monument dedicated to the reconstruction of the city after the 1755 earthquake.
Discover the world!
Obviously, you should do that along with the personalities of the 15th and 16th centuries. They are all represented on the Monument to the Discoveries, which is on the bank of the Tagus River.
Climb to the Christ Statue
Get on a boat, cross the river to Almada and go to Cristo Rey National Sanctuary. You’ll have a wonderful view of Lisbon and also of the famous 25 April Bridge.
Take the stairs!
Lisbon hides beautiful and colorful stairways. Go and discover them!
Taste!
Eat Pasteis de Belem at The Belem Tower! It is the most delicious cake I’ve ever eaten!
Drink!
Don’t forget about the local green wine!
Visit the sweetest castle
Pena castle from Sintra (27 km away from Lisbon’s center) is the most visited touristic place in Lisbon area. The colorful palace was built in the XIX century from the order of the King Ferdinand II of Portugal. He fell in love with this place during a holiday with his wife, Queen Maria.
