Petra is one of the world’s largest archaeological site and it has a place on the list of the seven modern wonders. The ancient city was founded in 600 BC, when the Nabataeans, nomadic Arab people, settled here. Although not so well known as the Egyptians or Romans, the Nabataeans played an important role in the history of the time, because they managed to establish a big kingdom up to Syria with a thriving and rich capital: Petra.
Kiev is a diverse cultural center and it has three million inhabitants. It is a capital that stretches over hills and islands surrounded by the river, all connected by bridges and underground lines.
There are some places I’ve been that made me feel little and insignificant, giving me a strange sensation of joy at the same time. It is curious how a building – museum, church or skyscraper – can change you the perspective you have of your own self.
Ávila is a hill town at 1131 meters altitude, on the banks of the Adaja River. From far away you can see the massive walls with dozens of defense towers – best preserved from all over Spain. The walls of Ávila have been declared a National Monument in 1884. The old town with all the churches inside and outside the fortification are UNESCO patrimony since 1985.
We continued our journey until the Niagara River spilled into Lake Ontario. In that point, there is a simple, old and charming fortress: Old Fort Niagara. It dates back to the days when the great empires fought for controlling North America. The buildings date from the 18th century and now are used as exhibition spaces.
I went to Israel to make a road trip, so I planned a journey of 900 km. Sincerely, I didn’t know exactly how it would be because, before I go somewhere I don’t want to see all on Google (StreetView this time). So, I only checked if the roads were ok because my plan was to rent a car, so I wanted to bring back the car in the same condition as I took it.
